A sacred reset before the turning of the year

This retreat begins in the final days of the lunar cycle, moves through the New Moon, and closes as the light of the moon begins to return.

In Vedic astrology, this is a powerful time for release, reflection, and renewal. It is a threshold between what has been completed and what is ready to take root.

Held just before Winter Solstice, this retreat offers a sacred reset before the turning of the year: space to step away from routine, listen inward, and plant the seeds of a rhythm that can support your next chapter.

During the retreat, Saturn also completes its retrograde cycle — a meaningful turning point that invites us to move from reflection into embodied commitment. Together, the New Moon and Saturn create a potent container for release, reset, and recommitment.

What You’ll Experience

Throughout the week, you’ll be guided through a thoughtful rhythm of yoga, meditation, sound healing, poetry, music, journaling, nourishing meals, and spacious time by the ocean.

Each element is designed to help you step out of mental noise, soften old patterns, and reconnect with the rhythm that feels most true now.

Yoga, Breath + Meditation

Is it safe to travel to Akumal, Mexico?

As with any international travel, we encourage you to stay informed and make choices that feel supportive for your comfort level. Villa Bellamar also provides additional support on site, including 24/7 security, a night guard, in-room safes, and daily housekeeping. We’ll also provide trusted transfer recommendations and arrival guidance to help support a smooth experience.

What about sargassum/seaweed?

Sargassum is a natural seaweed that can affect beaches throughout the Caribbean and Riviera Maya. Our retreat takes place in December, which is generally a lower-risk time than the spring and summer peak season. That said, ocean conditions are natural and can change, so we cannot guarantee seaweed-free beaches.

Villa Bellamar is located directly on Half Moon Bay, and there will be a gardener/groundskeeper on site who can help keep the beach area as clear as possible if seaweed is present. The retreat is designed to offer beauty, rest, practice, and spaciousness whether the ocean is perfectly clear or moving through a natural cycle.

Will there be free time?

Yes. The retreat is intentionally designed with spacious free time for rest, beach lounging, snorkeling, swimming, journaling, quiet integration, or nearby exploration. You will not be scheduled every moment of the day.

How many people will be on the retreat?

The retreat is designed to feel spacious, personal, and well-held. Final group size will depend on the room configuration and the balance of shared and private rooms, but the intention is to create a connected group experience with enough space for rest, privacy, and personal integration.

Will there be housekeeping?

Yes. Daily housekeeping is provided at Villa Bellamar, so the space will be cared for throughout the retreat. This is part of the support that allows you to soften into the week and focus on rest, practice, and integration.

What if I need to arrive before check-in?

Retreat arrivals take place on Monday, December 7 from 3:00–6:30pm, with welcome dinner at 7:00pm. If you arrive in Akumal earlier in the day, we can suggest nearby lunch spots where you can relax before check-in.
